Turkish man gets life sentence for murder of ex-wife
Gruesome murder of Emine Bulut in front of daughter on Aug. 18 sent shockwaves across nation
KIRIKKALE, Turkey
A Turkish man was sentenced to life in prison on Monday for stabbing his ex-wife, according to judicial sources.
The Kirikkale Heavy Penal Court sentenced Fedai Varan, 43, for killing with malicious intent, said the sources who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to media.
A shocking video of the murder which went viral showed Varan stabbing his wife Emine Bulut, 38, at a cafe in front of their 10-year-old daughter.
Bulut can be seen letting out a blood-curdling scream and saying: "I don't want to die," as her daughter begs her to live.
The court issued a publication and broadcast ban on the video of the murder which occurred on Aug. 18.
The minor who underwent tremendous trauma is undergoing therapy organized by the Turkish government.
