ANKARA
An independent member of the Turkish parliament announced the establishment of a new political party, the Democratic Development Party, in Ankara on Wednesday.
Idris Bal, the founding member of the party, was before with the ruling Justice and Development Party.
Bal made the announcement of his new party at a press conference in the capital. He said he had submitted the petition for the new party at the Turkish Interior Ministry on Tuesday.
He said the party had already begun preparations to participate in the upcoming 2015 general elections in Turkey.
“All courageous people from the right and left wings who believe in democracy are invited to join our new party,” Bal said.
According to Turkey’s Supreme Election Board, 25 parties had registered to participate in the country’s last local elections in March 2014.
