Turkish military said its jets had struck terrorist PKK targets in northern Iraq on Monday.

Four fighter jets carried out airstrikes on PKK targets in the Avasin-Basyan region between 6.50 p.m. and 6.57 p.m. local time (1550 and 1557GMT), destroying an unspecified number of targets, the statement said.

The PKK -- also listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 600 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guards, have been martyred and over 7,000 PKK terrorists killed or “neutralized” in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
