SARAJEVO
Edhem Bicakcic, former premier of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the deputy chairman of Bosnia-Herzegovina Islamic union, has said that he finds the Turkish foreign affairs politics successful and said, "These new politics allow Turkey to improve relations with other countries and bring advantages to countries who cooperate with Turkey."
Bicakcic, a close work partner of former Bosnia-Herzegovina Federation president Alija Izetbegovic, said that he supports Turkey to have an effective role on the economy and on the public life of Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as being effective in the whole Balkans region.
Bicakcic stated, "I find the book of 'Strategic Depth' which was written by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu effective and successful when it is applied to the new Turkish foreign politics."
Also touching on the current political situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bicakcic added, "The political complexity tied the hands of the country. Highly important projects could not be applied into life, that is why this country could not move forwards as it needed."
Bicakcic added that politicians come out with unrelated matters for holding people back from thinking the bad economic conditions and problems and stressed that the upcoming elections in October is a good chance for community to face with the government."
Moreover, he stated that Party for Democratic Action (SDA) which was set up in coordination of Alija Izzetbegovic and himself is away from the thoughts of past.
"Support of first president of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Izzetbegovic, is inarguable. He brought freedom, sovereignty and independence to Bosnia and saved its people from massacre. He assured the international recognition of Bosnia and left Bosnia to next generations to keep developing the country. Point of view of today's SDA is nothing near the Izzetbegovic's," said Bicakcic.
Bicakcic is one of the founding members of Izzetbegovic's party, SDA. He was the Prime Minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina Federation between 1998 and 2000.
