ISTANBUL (AA) - August 12, 2012 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu telephoned on Saturday his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi over twin earthquakes that hit the northwestern city of Tabriz with at least 250 dead and 2,000 wounded.
Turkish diplomatic sources cited Davutoglu as telling Salehi that Turkey was ready to help its eastern neighbor in search and rescue efforts.
Also, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that Turkey was deeply saddened by the news of the earthquakes, and reiterating Turkey's readiness to help.
Turkish FM speaks to Italian counterpart
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu held a telephone conversation with his Italian counterpart Giulio Terzi on Saturday, Turkish diplomatic sources said.
The two ministers discussed latest developments in Syria and the humanitarian situation in Aleppo.
