Turkish fighter jets hit two PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, the National Defense Ministry said on Monday.

On Twitter, the ministry said the counter-terrorism operation neutralized terrorists in the Sinat-Haftanin and Zap regions.

Authorities often use the term “neutralized" in statements to imply terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

Also, the airstrikes destroyed weapon emplacements, shelters and arms depots used by the PKK terrorists.

On May 27, Turkey launched the Operation Claw against PKK in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq. The ongoing offensive has neutralized 58 so far.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women and children.
