Yemeni gunmen kidnapped a Turkish bus driver on Wednesday in the country's southern Abyan province, an official with the Yemeni Foreign Ministry told the Anadolu Agency.
The official said the Turkish driver worked for a Yemen-based tourism agency and he was heading to the southeastern city of Mukalla when his bus was stopped by the gunmen.
The identity of the Turkish man was not disclosed due to security reasons.
It was not immediately clear if al-Qaeda militants who are active in the region were involved in the kidnapping.
Previous abductions of Turkish nationals in Yemen were resolved peacefully as hostages were freed unharmed.
The official said the Turkish driver's kidnappers have not yet contacted the authorities and issued a demand.
