Turkey's national air carrier Turkish Airlines, or THY, has begun flights to Yemen's port city of Aden on Wednesday.
THY, having world's 7th largest flight network, became the first European airline to launch flights to Aden, the most strategic port of the country.
An opening ceremony was held at the Aden International Airport for the THY flights which were expected to boost the city's economy.
Yemeni Minister of Transportation Vaid Badib told a press conference that Yemen needed visionary companies like THY and Aden port would reach its goals by such partnerships.
THY has been flying to Yemeni capital Sana'a once a week for 6 years.
