Turkish jets killed four PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, an official statement said on Monday.
The air force launched a counter-terrorism operation in the Zap area on Sunday, according to the Turkish General Staff.
Air strikes killed the terrorists, who were planning to assault military bases on the Iraq-Turkey border.
Elsewhere, the security forces disposed of two improvised explosives in the Silopi district of southern Turkey’s Sirnak province and two hand grenades in the Beytussebap district.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians.
