ALEPPO, Syria
Syrian regime forces attacked Turkish charity organization IHH's aid truck in the northwestern Syrian city of Aleppo, killing the driver and injuring another person.
The IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation said in a statement that one of their aid trucks carrying flour in packages from the Turkish border town of Reyhanli to the foundation's warehouse in Aleppo was hit by Syrian jets while entering the city.
Later on Friday, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu reaffirmed that Turkey would take side with Syria by all means despite all smear campaigns and attacks against Turkey's humanitarian aid initiatives.
Attending a session of the 'General Assembly of Syrian Turkmens,' he criticized Syrian regime's plan to hold presidential election amid raging civil war. "How can they even talk about holding an election while people cannot have a roof over their heads?"
He said Turkey's diplomatic effforts to find a resolution to the conflict would continue increasingly.
Turkey has continued humanitarian aid for Syrian civilians who have limited access to food and medicine since the start of the civil war in this country in 2011.
More than 200 thousand Syrian refugees also live in Turkey.
