Turkey's share in the total number of passengers, who were carried by airways in the world, increased to 2.1 percent in 2011.
It was one percent in 2003, according to figures of Turkish Transportation Ministry.
Turkey's share in the number of passengers using airways in Europe rose to 7.4 percent in 2011 from 3.2 percent in 2003.
Turkey targets to increase the ratio of the number of passengers using airways to 3.7 percent in the world, and to 13.5 percent in Europe by 2023.
The number of airways passengers in Turkey had been 34.4 million in 2003, 118.2 million in 2011, and 130 million in 2012. Target for 2023 is 350 million.
