Turkey's parliament head congratulates Ethiopia on National Day
Relations between Turkey, Ethiopia to continue to develop steadily, Mustafa Sentop says in letter to Ethiopia counterparts
Turkish parliament speaker congratulated Ethiopia as it celebrated 30 years of independence on Friday.
Mustafa Sentop sent a letter to Ato Tagesse Chafo, speaker of Ethiopia’s parliament; and Aden Farah, speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Federation.
“On behalf of the Turkish nation and myself, I congratulate the friendly people of Ethiopia on the occasion of the National Day,” Sentop said.
"I believe that the relations based on historical friendship and cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop steadily in the upcoming period," he said.
The downfall of the Derg is a public holiday in Ethiopia on May 28.
Ethiopia's National Day commemorates the downfall of the Derg regime in 1991.
