Tan discussed with university officials cooperation opportunities such as student exchange programs and scholarships following a visit in Turkey by a delegation from the university to launch a joint MBA program with their Turkish counterparts.
Delivering a speech at the university, Tan said Turkey was adjacent to the most complicated regions of the world, adding that his country could not remain indifferent to developments in those regions.
Tan said Turkey's pluralist political system based on human rights and the rule of law and its democratic reforms made the country a source of inspiration for other countries and peoples of the region.
"Turkey's ability to communicate with different political views, its ability to understand both the West and the East and its strong historical and cultural ties with the countries of the region constitute the fundamentals of our foreign policy," Tan said.
Tan said Turkey extended strong support to democratization process in the countries of the region, which he said was passing through "a normalization process in the natural course of the history."
