Turkey's 7th face transplant surgery was performed at Akdeniz University Hospital in Turkey's southern province of Antalya on Saturday.
During the operation, which took four hours and ten minutes, Prof. Dr. Omer Ozkan and his team successfully transplanted the face of Ali Emre Kucuk to 22 year-old Recep Kaya.
Kaya had already gone under about 40 operations since he blew up a part of his face in an accident while he was playing with his father’s hunting rifle nine years ago.
Kaya had been invited for his long-waited operation by the university three months ago but the surgery could not be performed when he found out the skin color of the donor did not match his.
