Turkish wrestlers clinched six medals, including three gold medals at the 2015 Wrestling World Championships held in the U.S. city of Las Vegas between Sept. 7 and 12.
Turkey's Taha Akgul retained his title as the world number one in the freestyle competition after he beat Azerbaijani athlete Jamaladdin Magomedov under the 125-kilogram category.
Riza Kayaalp defeated Cuban Mijain Lopez Nunez 1-0 to bag gold in Greco-Roman wrestling contest under the 130-kilogram category.
Selcuk Cebi was another Turkish gold medalist who beat Belarus’ Viktar Sasunouski in the Greco-Roman contest under the 80-kilogram category.
Selim Yasar bagged the silver medal in freestyle under the 86-kilogram category after losing to Russian wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulaev, 6-0.
Yakup Gor won against Belarussian Azamat Nurykau in freestyle under the 70-kilogram category, 9-8, when he bounced back from, 2-8, to claim the third place.
Meanwhile, in the women's category, Turkish Elif Jale Yesilirmak beat Colombian Jackeline Renteria Castillo, 3-2, to get the bronze medal.
