Turkey wins best police practices award in traffic safety

ANKARA

Turkey won the top prize for traffic safety at an international symposium of police forces from around the world.

More than 500 security experts from 20 countries including Britain, the United States, Germany and China gathered in Dubai to take part in the 9th Annual International Symposium for Best Police Practices.
Fatih Vursavas, deputy director of the Traffic Safety Research Center with the Turkish police force, represented Turkey at the symposium, presenting Turkey's traffic security practices.
"Every year more than 1 million people die in traffic accidents around the world, and about 20-50 million people are injured or become permanently disabled. The world needs to solve this problem," Vursavas said.
The forum allowed more than 50 security bodies to discuss their practices on various topics related to cybercrimes, child abuse, organized crime and other topics.
This is the first time that Turkey wins an award at the Annual International Symposium for Best Police Practices.
