Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology has initiated the process of "type approval certificates" provided by Turkey for motor vehicles to be acknowledged and move freely in the EU.
Nihat Ergun, the Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, said Tuesday that by starting giving "type approval certificates" in automotive industry as of 2014, they were aiming to keep the amount in the country, which was around 500 million USD per year, that was going to be sent to EU certification agencies.
One of the biggest industries of Turkey, exporting 75% of its production to EU countries, the automotive industry transfers big amounts of money out of Turkey for each type exported vehicle.
Type Approval is the confirmation that production samples of a design will meet specified performance standards.
