SIRNAK, Turkey
One Turkish soldier was martyred in an operation against the terrorist PKK organization in southeastern Turkey, according to the military Saturday.
Turkish General Staff said in a press release that the soldier, who was heavily wounded in an armed attack by the terrorists in Cizre district in Sirnak province, died at hospital.
So far, seven members of the separatist terrorist organization were killed in the Saturday operations, and the operations were ongoing, the statement added.
The PKK -- also considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
