SIRNAK, Turkey
Turkish security said Friday it is investigating the links of two Czech-national YPG members arrested earlier this week in the southeastern city of Sirnak.
Miroslav Farkas, whose alias is Serxwebun Botan, and Marketa Vselichova, known as Zelane Botan, were detained Monday at the Habur border gate after illegally crossing from Syria.
The social media accounts of the pair indicate they have been organizing anti-Turkey propaganda in Europe.
It was also revealed that two alleged terrorists also traveled to Iraq and Syria on several occassions.
The YPG is the military branch of the PKK's Syrian affiliate, the PYD.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 300 civilians and nearly 800 security personnel have been martyred. Around 8,000 PKK terrorists have been killed or apprehended.
