Turkish transportation minister said on Tuesday that Turkey has recorded a great progress in its adjustment process with the EU in regard to the transportation chapter.
Transportation, Maritime and Communication Minister Binali Yildirim and European Commission Vice President Siim Kallas held a press conference before the groundbreaking ceremony of Irmak-Karabuk-Zonguldak railway project in the northern province of Karabuk.
Yildirim said that the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) of the EU also supported the project aiming at rehabilitating and implementing a signalisation system for the Irmak-Karabuk-Zonguldak railway line. The project was of great importance for EU-Turkish relations, he said.
Transportation Ministry reviewed several regulations and passed several laws in regard to the transportation chapter, he said, adding that his ministry kept working on the matter.
Yildirim said that Turkey and EU would conduct joint projects in the transportation sector.
Kallas said that Turkey was of great importance for EU.
