Turkey fully supports the worldwide initiatives for environment friendly development, fight against climate change and other environmental problems, said Turkish President Abdullah Gul marking World Environment Day.
In an online message from the official website of Turkish Presidency on Thursday, Gul said, "The proposals that would only save the day, or only for our own country, prosperity and happiness would not be in enough. So taking care of the health and prosperity of whole humanity is the biggest responsibility on the shoulders of all countries."
"Turkey acts in line with its responsibilities on the solution of environmental problems, fight against climate change and sustainable development policies. We support all international initiatives in regards to environmental protection," he said, reminding that Turkey is part of Kyoto Protocol environmental treaty since 2009, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide in a fight with climate change.
