Two masked attackers open fire on policemen with pump-action rifles in southern Mersin province
One person was killed and another was wounded in Turkey's southern Mersin province after an exchange of fire between two masked assailants and police officers Monday, security sources said.
According to sources, the two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire with pump-action rifles on policemen who were taking measures against an unauthorized demonstration in the Tarsus district.
Fleeing the scene, the attackers were chased down by the police, who urged them to surrender but were met by more gunfire.
One of the assailants was killed and the other was found wounded in the ensuing exchange of gunshots.
