Parties in Thailand should respect the superiority of law, avoid violence and end the unrest by displaying a mature approach to protect peace and stability in Thailand, said Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Levent Gumrukcu in a release on Tuesday.
Thailand's anti-government rallies began on November 24 and the protesters continue to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, claming that Yingluck's government is controlled by her brother, ousted leader Thaksin Shinawatra. Thai prime minister has rejected protesters' demand to step down.
Turkey is following the protests closely, Gumrukcu said, expressing concern over the occupation of government buildings by the protesters.
After bitterly fighting protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets since Saturday the police on Tuesday allowed the Thai protesters to make their way through to the government offices by removing the barriers in front of the police station in Bangkok.
