Turkey is concerned over news pertaining to a possible long-range missile test by North Korea under the disguise of placing a satellite into orbit.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that such a development not would only be a provocation that undermines international expectations from North Korea for acting responsibly, but also be a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1718 and 1784.
"Turkey actively support international efforts against the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery and attaches importance to the demilitarization of the Korean Peninsula, thereby generating welfare and stability, and the resumption of the Six-Party Talks at the earliest convenience. To this end, we expect North Korea to refrain from such steps like long-range missile tests, that would have negative regional and global effects," the statement said.
