ANKARA
Turkish diplomats killed by an Armenian terrrorist organization in 1970s and 80s were commemorated by Turkey's Foreign Minister on Tuesday.
March 18th is an important day in Turkey as it is Canakkale Victory Day and Martyrs' Day. The hundreds of thousands of Turkish men who died during the battle of the Dardanelles are commemorated and for Martyrs' Day, the Turkish diplomats targeted around the world by Armenian terrrorist organization called ASALA is also remembered.
Speaking at the memorial in Ankara, Ahmet Davutoglu said a nation's fate is decided not only with ''it's victories, but also with it's sorrows''.
Davutoglu also stressed that Turkey always commemorates their martyrs in every diplomatic visit to a related country. The minister reminded that he held a visit to Van recently, the eastern city of Turkey where 120 children died in 1915, carrying ammunition for the Battle of Sarıkamış against the Russians during World War I.
The minister expressed his condolences to the Turkish nation for the Canakkale martyrs as well.
"We will continue to represent this country in the world diplomatically no matter the sacrifices would be" he added.
Relatives of martyrs, representatives of political parties, ambassadors and diplomatic representatives participated to the program.
