Turkey: 6 PKK terror suspects arrested
Forces working to track down 1 more suspect, says security source
Six people with suspected links to the PKK terror group were arrested in an operation in Istanbul province, a security source said on Friday.
Anti-terror police units conducted simultaneous raids at six locations in three districts, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Six of seven wanted suspects were apprehended and efforts are ongoing to nab the remaining one, according to the official.
The suspects are accused of being active in the so-called youth branch of the PKK and participating in various illegal activities throughout the province, the source added.
Organizational documents and digital materials were also seized in the operations.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
