MUGLA, Turkey
Turkish security forces on Monday detained at least six suspects for smuggling historical artifacts, seizing a tablet with inscription in Hebrew in southwestern Turkey.
Acting on a tip-off, the provincial gendarmerie command in Mugla province launched an operation to nab the suspects who were looking for a buyer for the tablet. The teams stopped a vehicle carrying the suspects and rounded them up.
The security forces also got hold of the tablet considered to be 1,700 years old. It has been sent to the Milas Museum directorate for examination.
