Turkey: 4 terror suspects remanded in custody

HATAY, Turkey

Turkish judicial authorities remanded four terror suspects in custody on Monday.

Turkey’s border forces in the southern Hatay province had captured the suspects who were trying to illegally enter Turkey from Syria. They were later produced before a court.

The suspects, identified as members of Daesh/ISIS and al-Qaeda-linked Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terror groups, were remanded in custody.

On Sunday, the country’s National Defense Ministry had said that 16 foreigners were arrested in Hatay.

“Our border guards serving in the Reyhanli and Narlica districts of Hatay took into custody a total of 16 people who were trying to illegally cross into Turkey from Syria,” the ministry said in a statement.
