ANKARA
The Turkish army killed a total of 20 PKK terrorists in the southeastern provinces of Hakkari, Mardin and Sirnak on Sunday.
According to a statement issued by the Turkish General Staff, seven PKK terrorists were killed in the Nusaybin district of Mardin province. So far, 200 terrorists have been killed in Nusaybin.
Seven PKK terrorists were also killed in Sirnak. The total number of terrorists killed during the operation in Sirnak so far is 167.
Meanwhile in Sirnak, a terrorist surrendered to Turkish security forces.
In Yuksekova district of Hakkari province, six PKK terrorists were killed. The toll reached 145 in Yuksekova, and numerous weapons were also seized.
Revealed hideout
In an anti-terror operation in Siirt's Eruh district, a terrorist hideout was discovered and seized. In the hideout, grenades, bazooka ammunition, documents and medical equipment were discovered.
The southeast has been the scene of a significant military operation since December.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 350 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
