Turkey: 20 PKK-linked terror suspects arrested
Suspects accused of providing financial support to convicted, imprisoned terror group members
Turkish security forces conducted simultaneous operations in 10 provinces Tuesday to arrest 20 suspects for allegedly providing financial support to the PKK terror group, security sources said Tuesday
Prosecutors in the western Balikesir province issued arrest warrants for the suspects, who were found to provide financing to convicted and imprisoned terror organization members, according to the source who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
Twenty suspects were arrested in the Balikesir-based operation that was launched simultaneously by provincial gendarmerie teams in the Adana, Aydin, Batman, Bursa, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir and Mersin provinces.
Firearms and organizational documents were seized at the homes of the suspects.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. *Wiring by Havva Kara Aydin
