ANKARA
Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that he was monitoring the successful steps that were taken by Tunisia in regard to democratization and restructuring.
The government headed by Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali achieved important successes and gained confidence of the international community, Gul said during his meeting with Jebali in Ankara.
A statement posted on the web site of the Turkish Presidency said that there were deep-rooted relations between Turkey and Tunisia.
Gul said that nearly 50 Turkish companies whose investments were about 750 million Euros were operating in Tunisia.
Jebali said that they appreciated Turkey's support to Tunisia's Jasmine Revolution.
Turkey played a historical role in democratization process in the Arab world, he said.
