Three more people have been detained after a young woman who recently appeared on a televised song contest in Turkey was critically injured after being shot at home by an unidentified attacker.
Police had detained a suspect on Monday.
Nineteen-year-old Mutlu Kaya was at home in the early hours of Monday morning in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province when she was attacked.
On Tuesday, police detained three people including Kaya's boyfriend. Another person who was taken into custody was later released.
The young woman remains in critical condition, according to hospital sources.
Meanwhile, Mutlu Kaya's father Mehmet Kaya told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday that media reports suggesting the incident was a case of honor killing were untrue.
"I do not know those people who committed the crime but the same people had come to my house with weapons twice and made threats," the father said.
He added that, upon learning of the threats, he informed the police, but his plea went unattended.
Kaya, a school canteen worker, had been a contestant in a talent show aired on Fox TV last month. She had drawn the attention of the jury, including well-known Turkish singer Sibel Can.
The young singer, who has reportedly been unable to go to university because of financial difficulties, had been due to perform at a local show in Diyarbakir province.
According to a report released by Posta newspaper last month, Kaya had received death threats from some relatives, apparently displeased with her decision to take part in the TV contest.
Police have not yet confirmed a motive for the attack. An investigation is under way.
