Answering questions of the press corps on recent remarks made by his senior adviser Ahmet Sever on the Turkish Presidency, Abdullah Gul said that "there were still two more years prior to a presidential election in Turkey. During this term, there are important things we have to do in and out of Turkey".
"We all have to do our job well. When the day comes, we will sit together and decide to do what is most right," Gul stressed.
"Furthermore, I would like to remind everyone that our friendship and relationship with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is beyond the articles of brotherhood. I request that you all keep this in your minds. As such, when the day comes, we will sit down, talk and do what we have to do all together. We are now obligated to do our job in the best way possible. There is still a long time ahead of us. There are expectations of the people and the nation. There are important incidents taking place around Turkey. We should not keep our minds busy with issues such as the presidency and the related elections," Gul said.
