The first Red Tulip Film Festival to promote Turkish movies in the Netherlands started on Thursday in Rotterdam.
The festival, which was organized under the umbrella of the Culture and Tourism Ministry and Netherlands-Turkey Cultural Foundation, will present 26 Turkish feature-length editing, documentary and short films till June 9.
A jury of three people, two of them Dutch, will choose the best director and the best film, which will win a prize money of 5,000 euro.
The festival started with the display of a movie "Burden" directed by Erden Kiral which was also its premier in the Netherlands. The movie won the honor award of the Red Tulip Film Festival.
Famous Turkish actress Demet Akbag also won the "lifetime achievement award".
