KAHRAMANMARAS
German soldiers are surveying Turkey's southern Kahramanmaras city for deployment of Patriot air defense system.
The systems will be deployed in Turkey as part of a NATO decision to support Turkey's air defense against a missile threat from Syria.
German delegation visited and surveyed Gazi Military Post in Kahramanmaras.
During the Iraq wars of 1991 and 2003, NATO deployed Patriot missiles in Turkey but they were never used.
Turkey has fiercely criticized the Assad regime and it hosts Syrian opposition groups as well as sheltering more than 150,000 Syrians in refugees camps.
