Bad winter weather in Turkey’s largest province has hit flights and ferry services.
Turkish Airlines flights and ferry services have been cancelled because of strong winds.
The country's national flag carrier announced early Thursday that it had cancelled over 70 domestic and international flights because of a strong southwesterly wind.
Fast ferry and inter-city sea-bus services have also been affected by the gales. Istanbul's Fast Ferry and Sea Bus Company, or IDO, announced that it had cancelled all its inter-city services on Thursday.
Winds are expected to blow from 50kmh to 90kmh in the Marmara region on Thursday, according to Turkey’s General Directorate of Meteorology.
Turkish Airlines passengers can go to www.turkishairlines.com or ring the airline's call center on +90 212 444 0 849 to follow up the latest updates about their flights.
