Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud paid a visit to Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Speaking at the meeting, Cicek said Somalia had passed through very difficult times, adding that the country had now opened a new chapter.
"I hope those difficult times are left behind. Turkey is monitoring the situation in Somalia very closely, and we are very much pleased with every positive development in your country." Cicek said.
Cicek said Turkish parliament head pledged continued support for Somalia, adding that the security reform in Somalia was of utmost importance.
-Deputy PM Bozdag also met with Mohamud
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag also met with the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Ankara.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with Mohamud, Bekir Bozdag said that they discussed Turkey's assistance to Somalia and projects that could be implemented in the future.
"Today, there is great love for Turkey and the Turkish nation in Africa, including in Somalia. You can notice it in export figures," Bozdag noted.
"As of now, Turkey has initiated a great development struggle in Somalia. The current president and the former president of Somalia both describe Turkey's arrival in the country as a 'milestone'," Bozdag underlined.
We pay special attention to spending every dime in Somalia in the right place at the right time, Bozdag also said.
