Ruling AK Party's Mehmet Yarka becomes mayor of Sirnak
90 percent of ballot boxes opened as of 1815GMT and Mehmet Yarka secures 62 percent of local vote

ANKARA
Ruling AK Party candidate Mehmet Yarka was elected mayor of eastern province of Sirnak in Sunday’s local polls, according to unofficial results.
As of 9.15 p.m. local time (1815GMT), 90 percent of ballot boxes have been opened as Mehmet Yarka secured 62 percent of votes.
His closest runner up, People's Democratic Party's (HDP) Hisar Osal, secured 34 percent.
In Sirnak, along with the central municipality, AK Party won 3 districts, Guclukonak, Beytussebap and Uludere, while the HDP won Idil, Cizre and Silopi.
Yarka is a businessman, married with three children.
