BURSA, Turkiye

A roadside bomb killed a prison guard and injured four others in Turkiye’s northwestern Bursa province on Wednesday.

A bus carrying the security personnel was targeted with an improvised explosive device near a gas station in Bursa’s central Yenikaraman neighborhood, according to Governor Yakup Canbolat.

The deceased officer was identified as 36-year-old Cengiz Yigit, while one of the four wounded is said to be in critical condition.

Canbolat said authorities suspect this was a terrorist attack and are trying to identify the perpetrators, with investigations underway at the site and in the area.

To a question about the possible involvement of the PKK terror group, he said authorities do not have enough “clear information” at the moment.
