Three Turkish soldiers have been injured in a PKK terror attack in the southeastern province of Hakkari, according to sources from Turkish military on Monday.

The PKK terrorists carried out the attack on the Gezgin Tepe military base of the Cukurca district, said the sources, who spoke on anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The attack was carried out from the Iraqi side of the border, they added.

The injured were taken to a hospital in Hakkari by helicopter.

The PKK terrorist group has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.

Since the mid-1980s, the PKK has waged a wide-ranging terror campaign against the Turkish state in which an estimated 40,000 people have been killed.
