ANKARA
Speaking at a joint press conference with Turkish President Abdullah Gul in Ankara, Abbas thanked Turkey for its efforts on upgrading their status within the UN.
He said they extend their hand for peace and would continue to take positive steps and do negotiations for the freedom of Palestinians.
Abbas added Israel's decision on building new housing units was a red line for them and added "it was a hostile act and they would not let it happen".
He said, "if Israel chooses peace, it would see that we are ready. If it continues to build new houses, especially on E1 area, we would respond in a different way".
Abbas said they were determined for enabling reconciliation in Palestine.
On a question whether Palestine would apply to International Crime Court (ICC) to sue Israel, Abbas said they were not very eager to apply to ICC under the conditions of Israel abiding by international and legal circumstances. He said if Israel continues to build houses they would use the new methods opened up for them following the upgraded status.
Abbas called on US not to disregard its responsibilities on the Middle East and Palestine.
