WASHINGTON
Muslims and Christians came Saturday together for the iftar meal in US' capital Washington, organized by American-Turkish Friendship Association (ATFA).
Being set up for 3 days, 750 people visited the tent, where iftar meals were provided due to holy Ramadan.
Turkey's ambassador in Washington Namik Tan, Azerbaijan's ambassador in Washington Erin Suleymanov and Virginia state council parliamentarian Kenneth Plum attended the meals.
A US citizen named Maria stated that they had heard about iftar meal through the church in the region where they lived. She said that the church had joint work with 'Rumi Forum', a dialogue foundation.
"The more we attend these kind of events, the better it will be. Here, we remark that we are not different from each other. We enjoy same things," another Christian participant said.
Traditional Turkish desert 'Lokma' besides tea and coffee was offered in AFTA's tent after the meal.
