ANKARA
Ankara 13th High Criminal Court ordered Friday the release of 37 out of 75 detained suspects in case over what is labeled as "the February 28 process", a military campaign that eventually forced an elected government in the country to resign in 1997.
The first hearing in the case will be held on Monday, followed by daily sessions throughout the week.
According to the court decision, those released include Nationalist Movement Party deputy Engin Alan. Alan will remain in prison, however, as he is currently being tried in another case over "Ergenekon", an alleged clandestine network of military officers and bureaucrats accused of trying to topple the elected government.
