ANKARA
Devlet Bahceli, Nationalist Action Party (MHP) leader, the third largest group in Turkish Parliament has harshly criticized the meetings held with jailed head of PKK terror organization, Abdullah Ocalan by the government of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
MHP leader Bahceli stressed Turkey's currently the most important problem was combating terrorism, at his address to the party's parliamentary group on Tuesday.
Using a strong language, Bahceli stated that the government's political preferences would bring negative results and said, "As a state and nation, Turkey faces a serious problem of perpetuity. We understand that a very long global game, plan, project and desire whichever want to pull us into ethnic traps, have risen using AK Party."
He stressed that Erdogan gambles with Turkey's future and said, "Now Turkey lacks public spirit as sitting on the table with terror is not being hidden. By attempting to this kind of a deal, Turkish PM started to gamble for the future of Turkish people."
Bahceli added that PM Erdogan considers the "meet ups" with terror organization as "politics" and continued as saying, "Don't you think that negotiations (with Ocalan) stand for betrayal, no? What more will come in order for Turkey to collapse, Turkish nation to break up?"
One of Turkey's biggest problems is 'Kurdish problem', says main opposition leader
Chairman of Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Kemal Kilicdaroglu on Tuesday said that one of Turkey's biggest problems was the 'Kurdish problem'.
Speaking at a group meeting of the CHP at the Turkish Parliament on Tuesday, Kemal Kilicdaroglu underlined that the 'Kurdish problem' could not be solved for the past 30 years.
"The trust we had placed in Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the past for democracy was without condition. We do not trust him now and we have conditions. He should either behave like a man and solve the (Kurdish) problem or be responsible for every coffin of a martyr," Kilicdaroglu noted.
Kilicdaroglu's remarks came on Tuesday after news reports that Turkish officials were holding talks with the head of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Ocalan at the Imrali island prison.
"The 'Kurdish problem' is one that could not be solved in the past 30 yeas. We want to establish a bright Turkey which lives in peace and tranquility on this territory of ours," Kilicdaroglu said.
"The duty of politics is to solve tough problems. It is the ruling party which must solve the problems at the first stage. The main opposition carries responsibility as well. We are not a political party which receives strength from problems. It would be inhumane to think so," Kilicdaroglu stated.
"I spoke at the Party Assembly (of CHP). We support societal peace every time and in all atmospheres as we love our humans and respect them. We want everybody to live in peace and tranquility. We will extend new trust to Prime Minister Erdogan to solve this (Kurdish) problem but we have four conditions: he should be sincere and honest, he should not have a personal agenda, he should not enter engagements which he can not explain to the people, and he should inform the main opposition about the process. If he accepts these conditions, then we will give trust to him. This is not a support extended to Erdogan but one extended to the mothers and fathers of the martyrs," Kilicdaroglu also said.
Meanwhile, speaking at a group meeting of his Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) at the Turkish Parliament on Tuesday, Chairman Selahattin Demirtas indicated that a planned process with the Turkish government was currently out of question.
There is a process which was initiated by the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party and the Turkish government in Imrali island with Abdullah Ocalan, Demirtas noted.
Following the talks in Imrali with Ocalan, we have not been given a road map, a project on solution (of violence) or a program with calendar, Demirtas stated.
At this point, the support of the families of martyrs will be the most valuable one, Demirtas also said.
