Turkey's Istanbul University was included for the 8th time in the list of top 500 universities prepared by China's Jiao Tong University.

ISTANBUL (AA) - August 15, 2012 - Turkey's Istanbul University is among the top 500 world universities in 2012.

Istanbul University was included for the 8th time in the list of top 500 universities prepared by China's Jiao Tong University.
A statement by the university said on Wednesday that it was ranked the 125th in the list in category of "success of graduates", ranked the 311th in regard to "the number of publications" and the 378th in "the number of publications per faculty member".
Istanbul University is the only Turkish university included in the list of the top 500 world universities by Jiao Tong University.
Istanbul University is a prominent Turkish university located in Istanbul. The main campus is adjacent to Beyazit Square. The university has seventeen faculties on five campuses. It has a teaching staff of 2,000 professors and associates and 4,000 assistants and younger staff. More than 60,000 undergraduate and 8,000 postgraduate students follow the courses offered by Istanbul University every year.
In 2010, the Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked Istanbul University as the 401st–500th best university worldwide, the only Turkish institution on the list. In the same year, University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) ranked the university 415th in the world and second university in Turkey.
