ANKARA
International observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe will be present at Turkey's presidential election on August 10.
"OSCE has been invited by the Turkish Government to observe the August 10 presidential election in the country," Head of Mission Geert-Hinrich Ahrens said at a press conference held in Turkey's capital Ankara on Wednesday.
Ahrens said the Organization will meet with Turkish political, civil rights and media authorities during the observation mission. It will have a core team of 13 experts based in Ankara and 16 observers will be deployed across Turkey.
"OSCE observers will be following candidate registration, campaign activities, the work of the election administration and relevant state bodies, implementation of the legislative framework, and the resolution of election disputes," said Ahrens.
Turks will go to polls on August 10 to choose their first democratically-elected president.
