Heavy fog halts traffic in Istanbul's Bosphorus Strait

ISTANBUL

Poor weather on Wednesday led to the closure of shipping traffic in the Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul Port Authority said.

The port authority said due to heavy fog around Turkeli Kavak area, north of Bosphorus Strait, the traffic for both ways was closed at 15.50 p.m. local time (1250GMT).

The Bosphorus Strait is one of the busiest sea routes in the region.
