Georgian church to boost tourism in E. Turkey
Osh Vank Church in Erzurum province is being restored
ERZURUM, Turkey
A church in eastern Turkey is valuable because of its religious and architectural features, the provincial governor said Wednesday.
"We will start special repair work in the Osh Vank Church and will restore it to enhance Turkey's tourism," Okay Memis said during his visit to Uzundere district of Erzurum province.
“This is a magnificent building which is inherited from the Georgians and is 1050 years old,” he added.
The governor said the church will generate tourism and employment.
“The fact that we have more than one culture and nation in Anatolia is the biggest indicator that we live in peace,” he said.
