Fourteen terrorists were killed Sunday in ongoing operations against the PKK terrorist organization in Turkey’s southeastern provinces, the military said.
The Turkish General Staff said Monday in a statement that 10 terrorists had been “neutralized” in Sirnak’s Idil district as well as four in Diyarbakir’s Sur district.
The military also said that security forces discovered five dead terrorists in Sirnak’s Cizre district. The bodies were found in three separate houses.
The statement also indicated that soldiers seized numerous weapons, ammunition, and handmade bombs in various districts.
The southeast has been the scene of a significant military anti-terror operation since mid-December.
The PKK –considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 270 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
