ANKARA
The trial on the death of Turkey's 8th president Turgut Ozal began on Wednesday.
Ankara's 13th High Criminal Court rejected the acquittal request of Brigadier General Levent Ersoz who is tried for Ozal's death.
Reminding that a secret witness had said that Ozal's wife Semra had poisoned the president, the lawyer of suspect Ersoz urged that Semra Ozal should also be tried as a suspect.
Ozal died of a suspicious heart attack on April 17, 1993 while still in office, leading some to suspect an assassination.
The hearing was postponed to December 9, 2013.
